The Standing Sheet

Draped over someone or something unseen, a plain bedsheet ghost stands upright with two dark eye holes cut near the top. The fabric falls in long folds to a ragged, frayed hem, and a faint hatched shadow pools on the ground beneath it. The whole figure is drawn in fine stipple and engraved dots, cream on a solid black ground, with no other detail anywhere in the frame.

Black, bone and pale grey keep it monochrome, spooky and a little wry. The ghost fills the height almost exactly, so it reads life-size in spirit and stands on the bottom edge. At 9 × 18 in the dotted texture of the cloth comes through. Hang it in a dark hallway, a library corner or year-round, not just in October.
