Pinned Curls

Fifteen or so women's heads crowd the frame in black ink on white, most in profile or three-quarter view, some facing left and others right. Each wears her hair differently: tight curls, a smooth bun, a swept-back roll. Long drop earrings hang from nearly every ear, and paisley and beaded patterns fill the collars between them. Solid black patches peek through the gaps at the top left.

Pure black and white, with only the density of the linework making greys. The faces stack in loose rows from top to bottom, so the eye climbs the print face by face rather than settling. At full size the hair detail rewards close reading. It pairs well with black frames, a white wall and other monochrome pieces.
