Cat. 040.9 · Middle Ages Black on Black
Between the Pines
Two horns rise from the head of a small cloaked figure. It stands on a bare rise between two stands of tall, thin pines, its back half-turned. A long pitchfork is planted upright in the ground beside it, and two little creatures sit at its feet. The trees are cut in solid black with flecks of white through the foliage, and a hollow ring of a moon hangs in the empty sky.
Pure black on white, nothing in between. The pines rise through the middle of the tall frame and the moon sits alone near the top right, so the figure becomes a small dark point near the base. Lots of white space keeps it quiet. It sits well in a reading corner or among old book illustrations.
Hangs well a reading corner or narrow hallway
