No. 013, in five platesVintage Ghost
Five bedsheet ghosts, engraved like plates from a Victorian almanac, each one more startled than frightening.
These are drawn the way an old book illustrator would have drawn them: thousands of fine hatched lines building up the weave and weight of a cotton sheet, with nothing but black around it. There is no colour at all, only linen white, a few greys and deep ink. That restraint is the whole trick. Every ghost is the same costume, a sheet with eye holes, and the engraving does the haunting.
Each plate gives the sheet a different personality. One stands squarely on the floor, a soft shadow pooled at its ragged hem. Another hovers smaller and higher over dark water, its reflection breaking into silver lines below. The tallest falls in long smooth folds with two narrow, sleepy eyes. Two have their mouths open in a round little gasp, and the last trails a hem torn into tatters, as if it caught on a nail on the way through the wall.
The ghost always sits in the middle of the frame with a band of solid black above its head, so the clock lands on empty dark and stays sharp. Lock Screen widgets fit just above the hood. On a Home Screen the black ground suits dark mode, and the pale figure reads like a cameo between rows of icons rather than fighting them.
A good choice for October, obviously, though the drawings are calm enough to keep all year if you like your phone monochrome and a little gothic. The Standing Sheet is free to download in full resolution; the other four are premium.
A sheet, two eye holes, and a great deal of patient cross-hatching.

About Vintage Ghost.
Are these ghosts scary enough for Halloween?
They are more charming than chilling. The faces are just eye holes and the odd surprised mouth, so they suit a festive phone without being anything you would hide from a child.
Which Vintage Ghost plate has the most going on?
Over Still Water, where the ghost hovers above a dark pond and its reflection shimmers underneath. The others keep to a single figure on plain black.
