Crest of the Hill

An open-wheel race car, seen from behind, sits on the brow of a dark road at the very bottom of the frame. It is almost entirely silhouette, just a few white highlights on the bodywork and rear wing. The road rises gently from left to right. Above it, nothing but sky, sliding from deep maroon at the top through brick red to a hot scarlet just above the horizon.

Maroon, crimson and scarlet, with a strip of near-black road. More than four fifths of the print is gradient, so the car feels small and alone. On a phone the car is a speck; at 9 × 18 in its wing and tyres read clearly. It suits a dark-walled den or a minimal lounge.
