Overhead on Asphalt

Seen from directly above, a red Formula One car points up the frame, centred on dark asphalt between faint dashed white lines. The front wing, the yellow-marked tyres, the halo over the driver's helmet and the black floor are all crisply detailed, with a yellow scallop-shell sponsor badge on the nose. The top and bottom fall away into shadow, so the car seems lit by a single overhead lamp.

Black, charcoal and racing red, with small sparks of yellow, give it a tense, cinematic quiet. The car runs nearly the full height of the frame, so it reads like a scale drawing with the nose at eye level. At 9 × 18 in the grain of the asphalt shows. It suits a garage or a dark media room.
