No. 070, in eight platesBlack and White Silhouettes
A gallery of faces packed tight as a choir, every earring, braid and paisley curl picked out in black ink.
The title promises silhouettes, but these plates are the opposite of empty outlines. Each is a dense ink drawing in pure black and white, the kind of obsessive pattern-work you find in a colouring book for grown-ups: hair rendered strand by strand, shawls filled with paisley and florets, earrings and headbands strung with tiny beads. Grey only appears where lines crowd together. What unites the eight works is the crowd itself, women's faces overlapping in every direction until the frame is full.
Some plates are all profiles. In one, women with pinned-up curls and drop earrings face left and right in a tight lattice; in another, three figures with long straight hair stand in a row beneath a black sky of paisley and blossom. Others turn to face you, a wall of long dark hair, almond eyes and embroidered necklines. Patterned headscarves and veils fill one plate from top to bottom like a vast gathering, and the last mixes jewelled headbands, spiral ornaments and a face drawn in solid black among the white ones.
With pattern running edge to edge, the clock will always sit over detail. Plates with a heavier black ground near the top, such as Paisley Night, give white numerals the best contrast; on the lighter, mostly white plates, a bold dark clock is easier to read. On the Home Screen the fine pattern behaves like a textile, so icons sit happily on top. In dark mode the white areas can glare, so this set shines with a light appearance.
For lovers of henna patterns, zentangle doodles and intricate monochrome art. Pinned Curls and Flowing Strands are free to download in full resolution, and the other six are premium.
Not a single empty outline: every face is drawn to the last bead.

About Black and White Silhouettes.
Are these actually silhouettes?
Not in the cut-paper sense. They are detailed ink drawings of faces and patterns; the name refers to the many profiles that overlap through the series.
Which plate has the most black in it?
Paisley Night, whose upper third is a black sky of white flowers, and Jewelled Bands, which uses solid black shapes between the faces.
Are they free?
Two are: Pinned Curls and Flowing Strands, in full resolution. The remaining six are premium, 10 credits a plate with re-downloads forever, or every one of them with Unlimited.
