Under the Cumulus

Alone on the crest of a long green hill, a round-crowned tree stands in silhouette against a pink-gold evening sky. Behind it, two heaped cumulus clouds catch the last sun on their tops. The hillside below is combed into soft furrows, with a band of low gold light across the middle slope. The foreground grass falls into dark, out-of-focus green at the bottom edge.

Rose pink, honey gold and deep green, with a cool grey sky overhead. The tree sits almost exactly at the centre of the tall print, with sky above and layered hills below, so the eye rests there. Photographic detail in the furrows rewards 9 × 18 in. Calm enough for a bedroom or a meditation corner.
