The Little Loaf

Down at the bottom of a plain mustard yellow page sits a small, round orange cat shaped like a bread loaf, with pointy ears, stiff whiskers and a curled tail. Its eyes are two huge white circles with tiny pupils, giving it a startled, slightly baffled stare. A faint smile and a tiny nose finish the face. The fur is drawn in quick scratchy pen strokes over a flat wash.

Mustard, marigold and soft orange, warm and friendly. Almost the whole height is empty yellow, so the cat looks very small and very serious at the bottom. That emptiness is the joke. Printed large it gets funnier. It suits a kitchen, a child's room or a narrow spot beside a doorframe.
