Split Sky

Streaming diagonally from the upper left to the right edge, a long flock of birds crosses a hard line where a teal band of sky meets a red one. Above the line the birds are printed red on teal; below it they turn dark teal on red. Lower down, a craggy teal mountain sits behind a rounded red hill covered in fine, speckled grain, like scrub seen through riso ink.

Teal and tomato red, with nothing else, give it a crisp, graphic and airborne feel. The flock travels across the upper half and the hills anchor the lower third, with a wide red pause between. At 9 × 18 in the speckle of each layer stands out. It suits a living room or a stairwell.
