The Stepping Stones

A man with a neat dark fringe strides mid-step across a bright blue stream, one orange shoe planted on a pile of grey stones and the other reaching for the next. He wears a cyan turtleneck and charcoal trousers. Behind him, hills roll away in stripes of magenta, lime, gold and tangerine toward a red-orange sun. Round pebbles in purple and amber crowd the foreground, all drawn with fine engraved lines and halftone dots.

Cyan, magenta, tangerine and lime pull against each other in pure retro pop. The sun crowns the top, the man fills the middle and fat coloured boulders anchor the bottom, so the eye walks with him downward. At 9 × 18 in the line texture in each hill becomes visible. It brightens a hallway or a rumpus room.
