Violet Core

Clouds of violet gas billow out from a pale, glowing core just above the middle of the frame, where the stars cluster thickest. Wispy lilac filaments curl around the edges like smoke, and a scatter of brighter stars dots the dark indigo above. Low in the left corner a small spiral galaxy turns on its own. The finish is soft and airbrushed, without hard edges anywhere.

Violet, lilac, indigo and near-black make it calm and nocturnal. The bright core sits high, so the glow draws the eye up while the small spiral rewards a look down. Printed at 9 × 18 in the fine star dust shows up that a phone screen hides. It suits a bedroom, a nursery or a quiet media room.
