Open Door

In the open door of a dark blue carriage, a woman in a conductor's peaked cap and long buttoned coat stands side-on, one hand on the door edge and a small suitcase in the other. Cobalt and butter yellow over black give it a quiet, cinematic night feel. The lit doorway forms a tall yellow column in the right half, and the eye moves down it from her cap to the pool of light below. Larger, the halftone grain becomes rich and tactile. Hang it in a hallway or a study.
