No. 074, in eight platesPlayful Orange

Playful Orange is a soft, rounded 3D cartoon set with one stage and one joke. A tall pillar of rough, sandy plaster stands against a smooth tangerine wall, and from behind it a child peeks out. The light is warm and even, the colour almost entirely orange, from deep persimmon on the pillar to apricot on the wall, with only the children's cream shirts, brown hair and big shining eyes to break it.

The cast changes with every plate. Spiky Hello has a boy with a wild mop of hair leaning out high on the right, all grin. One Big Eye shows just half a face under a dark bob. In Curls at the Corner a curly-haired girl clutches the edge low down, and in Small and Shy a tiny frizzy-haired girl in a cream dress stands almost fully visible, still pretending to hide. Orange Jumper flips the scene, peering out from the left of the pillar.

The top half of every plate is plain orange, which makes the clock sit cleanly and gives Lock Screen widgets an uncluttered place to land. The faces appear in the middle or lower half, so they peek out from between your icons rather than behind the time. Dark labels are easiest to read on this warm background; on dark mode, keep icons tinted to preserve the faces.

It is a cute orange wallpaper series that works for a child's first iPhone, for parents, or for anyone who needs cheering up when the phone lights. Two of the eight plates are free in full resolution; the others are premium.
