No. 005, in seven platesChilling with My Duckies

The drawing style is the gag. Every whisker, tabby stripe and glint of pool water is rendered in crisp, almost engraved detail, the kind of care usually saved for a natural history plate, and then lavished on a cat in sunglasses being mobbed by bath toys. The colour stays tight: silver-grey fur, grey-green water and a great deal of rubber-duck yellow.

Seven plates, seven poolside personalities. A silver tabby in red-rimmed shades stretches out on a ribbed yellow lilo. A grey cat lies back so close to us that its lenses reflect a crowd of ducks. One tabby wears black frames that somehow reflect autumn leaves, another lounges in a ring printed with orange flowers, and a chunky grey cat in round orange glasses raises a paw as if ordering another drink. In the final plate a cat in gold wire-rims sits so deep among ducks that it is hard to see any water at all.

Honesty about the layout: these are packed edge to edge. The cat's face usually sits in the upper middle of the screen, so the clock lands on ducks, water or ears depending on the plate, and a bold clock weight helps it stand out. The Home Screen gets busy too, with ducks behind every icon; a single page of apps or a dimmed wallpaper keeps it readable. In return, nothing else you could put on a phone is quite this cheerful.

It suits cat owners, rubber duck collectors, pool-day daydreamers and anyone who needs a laugh every time they unlock. Two of the seven come free in full resolution; the other five are premium.
