No. 009, in seven platesVector Dog
Seven dogs, two inks and a gouge: a kennel of linocut hounds in black and signal red.
Despite the name, nothing here looks like clean vector art. These dogs read as relief prints: hatched fur, chunky black outlines, and red that sits on the paper the way ink does when a block is pressed by hand. The palette never strays from black, a hot signal red and an off-white, and that discipline is what makes seven very different dogs feel like one litter.
The hero plate is a black-and-white beagle sitting square on a hatched plinth, red-rimmed eyes and a small open mouth, framed by a red panel of glyphs. A poodle built from maze-like squiggles stands inside a stamped red border. Two shaggy-maned dogs could pass for lions, their bodies patterned in red and black fretwork. The wilder plates go abstract: one hound gazes upward inside a crown of red spikes, another is all spiky crest and angular snout, and a third dissolves into a dense knot of swirling motifs.
On a phone, the calmest plates are the maned dogs on cream, which leave a clear band of bare paper above their heads for the clock. The beagle and the poodle put red pattern right behind the time, so a heavier clock weight helps. The abstract plates are busy from edge to edge and belong on a Lock Screen rather than behind a full grid of apps. iOS labels are white, so the cream-ground plates prefer a sparse Home Screen; the red-heavy ones give those labels more to stand on.
For dog owners who would rather have a print than a photo, and for anyone with a soft spot for woodcuts and two-colour gig posters. The Beagle on the Plinth and Spiked Crest are free to download in full resolution; the other five hounds are premium.
Two inks, one gouge, and a beagle who knows he is being looked at.
Try each one on before you save it.
Tap any plate to hang it on the Lock Screen, then switch to the Home Screen to see it behind your apps. This is the same preview the app gives you, on your own phone, with your own clock.
Every plate here can be ordered as an unframed matte print, from A$59 with free shipping. Or hang three side by side: any three plates from Vector Dog, 8 × 16 in each, for A$179.

How Vector Dog wears.
Bold, graphic, playful, punchy. Two-colour linocut-style print, sized for every iPhone up to 2160 × 4800.
On the Lock Screen
Shaggy Sentry leaves a band of bare cream above the dog's mane, so the clock sits on clean paper.
On the Home Screen
Red Knot and the beagle carry the most red, which keeps white app labels readable across a full grid.
Full resolution, every model
Each plate is delivered at the exact size of your iPhone's screen, up to 2160 × 4800, so nothing is stretched or soft at the edges.

About Vector Dog.
Why is it called Vector Dog when it looks like a linocut?
The name is the collection's title in the app. The plates themselves imitate hand-pulled relief prints, with hatched texture and slightly uneven red, rather than flat vector shapes.
Which Vector Dog plate is the least busy?
Shaggy Sentry and The Lion-Maned Hound: a single dog on mostly bare cream, with open paper above the head. Red Knot is the opposite, patterned to every edge.
Do any of the dogs cost anything?
Five of them do. The Beagle on the Plinth and Spiked Crest are free in full resolution from the pxCream app; the others cost 10 credits each, re-downloadable forever, or come with Unlimited.
