No. 081, in six platesStreet Basketball
Six summer afternoons on public courts, each one stopped at the top of the jump.
These are photographs in a sun-faded film look, the colour of a holiday print left too long on a dashboard. The sky does most of the work: a flat, chalky teal behind every plate, met by apricot and peach render on the surrounding apartment blocks. Every shot is taken from somewhere near the asphalt, looking up, so the hoop and the player share the sky while the buildings lean in at the edges.
Each plate freezes a different kind of leap. In Crop Top Dunk a young man in a white vest and baggy cream trousers rises toward the rim with one arm high. Mustard Jacket has a player with a tall quiff floating over the court in pale jeans, ball held out like an offering. The two boldest frames belong to a woman with platinum hair: in Scissor Kick a trainer swings straight at the lens, and in Palm Up she climbs past a fringe of summer trees with the ball balanced on one hand.
Because the camera looks upward, the top third of most plates is open sky with a backboard tucked into a corner. On Lean In and Palm Up the hoop sits off to the right, leaving clear teal where the clock goes; on Crop Top Dunk the rim crowds the time a little. Players usually land mid-frame, so a stack of widgets covers a torso rather than a face. Pale skies make white app labels thinner than they would be on a dark picture, which is why tinted or dark icons hold up best on the Home Screen.
It suits pick-up players, sneaker people and anyone who thinks of summer as a colour rather than a season. Crop Top Dunk and Over the Orange House are free in full resolution; the other four are premium, for when the whole team wants to come along.
Nobody in this series has both feet on the ground.

Tap any plate to hang it on the Lock Screen, then switch to the Home Screen to see it behind your apps. This is the same preview the app gives you, on your own phone, with your own clock.
Every plate here can be ordered as an unframed matte print, from A$59 with free shipping. Or hang three side by side: any three plates from Street Basketball, 8 × 16 in each, for A$179.

Sunny, airborne, nostalgic, sporty. Sun-faded film-look photography, sized for every iPhone up to 2160 × 4800.
On the Lock Screen
Lean In and Palm Up keep their hoops to the right, so the clock floats in clear teal sky above the jumper.

About Street Basketball.
Which Street Basketball plate leaves the most room for the clock?
Palm Up and Lean In. Both push the backboard to the right edge, so the top centre of the screen is open teal sky and the time reads cleanly.
Do the plates show women players as well as men?
Yes. Scissor Kick and Palm Up feature a woman with platinum hair; the other four follow young men in jackets, vests and jeans.
Does any of the set cost money?
Four of the six do. Crop Top Dunk and Over the Orange House are free in full resolution; the rest are 10 credits each and yours to re-download forever, or Unlimited lets you rotate through the lot.
