No. 066, in eight platesAthletic Action
Eight sprinters in wraparound shades, cut from ink so dense you can almost hear the spikes on the track.
Athletic Action is drawn the hard way, or looks it: every muscle and fold of fabric is built from engraved hatching, hundreds of fine parallel strokes that turn skin into contour maps. The ink sits on a flat flame orange, with a cream panel here and there, and around each runner the frame fills with stacked display lettering and columns of small print in the manner of a Japanese sports poster. The type is decorative rather than readable, so treat it as texture. What unites the eight is the runner himself: close-cropped hair, wraparound sunglasses, total concentration.
On the Blocks is the standout, a crouched sprinter seen from above on a rust-red track with his fingertips spread on the line, a bold title block anchoring the lower corner. Number Four Sprint has him lunging straight at us across cobbled ground, a huge numeral 4 floating at his shoulder. Seventeen takes a stranger turn: a profile in dark shades whose hair streams away into a torrent of lines, while a tiny figure runs along the bottom margin. Bare Shoulders strips the kit back to shorts and sweat.
These are busy plates, so pick them for impact rather than calm. The faces sit high in most frames, which means the clock will cross a forehead or a pair of lenses; with the depth effect on, iOS can lift the time behind a head in the cleaner compositions such as Side-On Stride. On the Home Screen the dense linework competes with icons, so a single page of apps or a Focus with few widgets works best. The orange holds up in both light and dark mode.
Made for runners, track fans and gym regulars who like a poster on their phone. Number Four Sprint and Side-On Stride cost nothing in full resolution; the remaining six runners are premium.
Skin turned into contour maps, one engraved stroke at a time.

How Athletic Action wears.
Driven, intense, graphic, kinetic. Engraved ink illustration in sports poster layout, sized for every iPhone up to 2160 × 4800.
On the Lock Screen
On the Blocks keeps the busiest detail in the lower two-thirds, so the time lands on track and shoulder rather than a face.
On the Home Screen
Side-On Stride leaves a broad sweep of orange behind the runner's back, the calmest ground in the set for icons.
Full resolution, every model
Each plate is delivered at the exact size of your iPhone's screen, up to 2160 × 4800, so nothing is stretched or soft at the edges.

About Athletic Action.
What does the lettering on these running posters say?
Nothing in particular. The characters and small print are designed as graphic texture in the style of an Asian sports poster, not as real words, so they will not translate into a slogan.
Are all the plates of runners?
Yes, the series follows sprinters and distance runners in training kit. Most catch them mid-stride, one shows a sprinter set on the start line, and one dissolves a runner's hair into a stream of engraved lines.
Do any of the Athletic Action plates cost money?
Two of them do not: Number Four Sprint and Side-On Stride are free in full resolution. The other six are premium, 10 credits each with re-downloads forever, or included in Unlimited.
