No. 010, in six platesWhiterilla
One white gorilla, a great many black ones, and no doubt at all about who is in charge.
Whiterilla is rendered rather than drawn: soft sculpted fur, studio light, and a darkness so deep it swallows the background whole. The palette is almost entirely black, charcoal and white, with only the eyes adding colour, amber in the crowd and red or pink in the white gorilla. Every plate tells the same joke with a straight face: one pale figure among a sea of dark ones.
In the hero plate the white gorilla stands with arms crossed and chin up while the black gorillas around it look on with yellow eyes. Another catches it on all fours on a mossy rise, glancing sideways. One shrinks it to a small grey figure deep in the shadows, the darkest image in the set. Elsewhere it stands on a dim shoreline in front of a crowd, poses in three-quarter view with red eyes, and in the closest plate scowls straight out at us, arms folded over a grey chest.
This is a dark-mode series through and through. Most plates leave the upper third black, so the clock and widgets sit on pure shadow, and the white gorilla lands in the middle like a spotlit soloist. The crowd fills the bottom, giving the dock a deep, textured base. White labels are legible everywhere; the one plate to watch is the close-up, where gorilla faces fill the frame right up to the top edge.
For anyone who likes their phone dark and a little defiant, and for people who have been the odd one out and rather enjoyed it. Arms Crossed and On All Fours are free in full resolution; the other four are premium.
Arms folded, chin up, the only pale face in the room.

About Whiterilla.
Is there a Whiterilla plate that is almost all black?
Deep in the Shadows. The gorilla is small and dim, sitting low in the frame, so the screen reads as nearly solid black.
Is the white gorilla meant to be albino?
The pink and red eyes suggest so, but the collection is about contrast more than biology: one pale figure in a dark crowd, shown six ways.
