No. 054, in eight platesF40 Ferrari Silhouette

Every plate in F40 Ferrari Silhouette is assembled from the same short list: one red car, a few flat fields of colour, and buildings made of nothing but rectangles. The look borrows from the screen-printed travel poster, with a fine grain in the gradients and hard edges everywhere else. The palette hardly shifts from plate to plate, a faded racing red set against teal, sage, sand and the odd slab of chocolate brown, so the eight works sit together like a single print run.

The car is the Ferrari F40, drawn with its wedge nose, pop-up lamp housings and tall rear wing, and it is nearly always seen square on. Under the Portal parks it beneath a dark gateway that opens onto a mint sky. Tail Lights turns it round to show the four round lamps and the slatted engine cover. The Descent is the only plate with real motion, the car tipping down a steep diagonal of slate and sand. Red Carpet sets it on a blue runway between thin red rules, as though it had turned up for a premiere.

Because the car sits in the bottom third of almost every frame, the upper half is open colour, which is exactly where the Lock Screen clock and date want to be. Tall vertical bands, like the pale shaft in Cream Column or the single red stripe in Red Stripe Horizon, run up behind the time and give it a spine. On the Home Screen the car settles near the dock and the gradients stay quiet enough for app labels; the darker plates, Blocks of Shade and Tail Lights, are the ones to choose for dark mode.

This is a set for people who would rather hang a poster of a car than a photo of one: F40 devotees, eighties supercar nostalgists, and anyone who likes graphic design that knows what to leave out.
